Chinese Medicine and the Common Cold

With warm days and cold nights, the time of sore throats, coughing and sneezing starts again ..

While in Western medicine a Cold only differs by its severity, Chinese medicine differentiates between ‘Wind-Heat’ and ‘Wind-Cold’ with slightly different symptoms:

- Heat: sweating, overheated, thirst, scratchy throat, splitting headache, congested nose, fever

- Cold: shivering/ freezing, a stiff neck, back headaches, clear nasal mucus, no/mild fever, cough

What can you do? Rest, drink enough liquids, and no heavy foods;

Warm yourself with ginger or cinnamon tea – or cool yourself with peppermint or honeysuckle tea

And of course, acupuncture and Chinese herbs as soon as possible for strongest effect 😊
