Chinese medicine and Period Pain
Period pain can range from slightly uncomfortable to downright unbearable stabbing pain. It can start already a few days before the period and last from a couple of days to the entirety of the period.
As always in Chinese medicine, the underlying pathology needs to be understood. Stabbing pain is Blood stagnation, dragging pain is usually connected to Qi (energy) stagnation – this one is more likely to start prior to the period.
Additional factors like Cold, Blood Deficiency, Blood Heat have an impact on the presentation.
The treatment will focus on nourishing, moving, tonifying, and warming with acupuncture and herbs.
