SLEEP APNEA (APNOEA)

Repeated stops and starts during sleep? Maybe also snoring?

Your partner might be the one making you aware that you have sleep apne(o)a, or you get suspicious because you feel continuously tired after a night of sleep amongst other symptoms.

Obstructive sleep apnea is basically a physical blockage of the free air flow because you tongue and your soft palate keep relaxing briefly during your sleep. In other words, the muscles in your throat area aren’t strong enough to keep an open space for air flow.

What can you do?

  • Reduce weight

  • Reduce alcohol consumption

  • Stop smoking

  • Exercise!

In this case, you need to exercise your throat: now is the time to join a choir, learn to play the flute, the saxophone, the trumpet ...

Or, if you fear your neighbours’ wrath 😉, there are many exercises that strengthen the throat. We can go through them in our session.

Chinese medicine can help you clear that damp-Heat and Phlegm that is sitting in your throat and puffs up your soft tissue and support you on your weight/ alcohol/ smoking reducing journey.
