The Pericardium Channel
If your body were a chess game with the Heart being King, the Pericardium (PC) is its Queen. The Pericardium is a protective sac that surrounds and protects the Heart. In Chinese medicine, it is a channel on your arm with several acupuncture points that are linked to the Heart channel.
So it is not overly astonishing that when you present with Heart symptoms (either the organ directly or emotional), some of the most relevant acupuncture points lie on the Pericardium channel. This channel also connects emotions with the digestive system (the proverbial “I can’t stomach this..”).
The PC is used with:
insomnia, anxiety
nausea, motion sickness, gastritis
Palpitations, chest pain/ tightness
Western Medicine interpretation:
A significant part of the PC’s functions can be interpreted as following the brain-gut axis.
Chinese medical clock:
PC is indicated when symptoms regularly get worse between 7pm and 9pm.
