Back Pain and Acupuncture

Back pain can take up so many different shapes and forms. It can affect the neck area, the shoulder blades, upper/ middle lower back.

Everybody has suffered from some form of back pain from time to time, but what to do when it becomes a chronic or severe issue?

In Chinese medicine, back pain is either a

  • Stagnation of Qi (Energy) and Blood

  • or a Deficiency.

What is important for a successful Chinese medicine treatment:

  • Location and type of pain (sharp or dull)

  • Triggers (movement, heat or cold)

  • Duration (chronic or acute pain)

can tell you a lot about the origin of the problem. and the type of treatment needed.

(Electro-)acupuncture, cupping, sometimes moxa, and even herbal formulas can help moving that stagnation and nourish and tonify the affected area.
