Chinese Medicine and Winter Solstice

Tomorrow is winter solstice in Australia – the shortest day and longest night of the year. While we may miss the sun, these days can be an opportunity to recharge, slow down, relax.

While ‘day’ is the time of the Yang, energy, growth, the night belongs to Yin, the nurturing and calming time. In nature, animals and plants instinctively follow the rules of seasonal changes with lowering their levels of activity/ dropping their leaves.

Unfortunately, we have started ignoring the different times of the year and only use the daily changes of night and day for recharging – and in recent generations, not even those anymore.

Rediscover the beauty of sitting down with a cup of hot tea (without any social media devices ..) and just listen to the rain outside or admire the different light of the Winter sun.
