Chinese medicine and IBS

The name says it all: ‘irritable’ bowel. The intestines react to irritants, be it chronic stress, nasty microbes, or food irritants, for example.

In Chinese medicine, the Liver, the main stress organ, is always involved. It attacks the Qi (energy) of the digestive system), causing a mix of pathologies, that can vary quite a bit within different persons. Thus, the wide spectrum of possible symptoms.

The presentation is usually a mix of Qi deficiency (exhaustion, acute diarrhea), Qi Stagnation (abdo pain), Damp-Heat (smelly flatulence) and so on.

Acupuncture with herbs for several treatments needed.
